Emma and I took the girls to the Children’s Museum on Monday. All of the girls seemed sufficiently entertained and had fun along side the crowds of other children that had the day off of school.

Kitchen Rehab Update
We finally had the countertops and plumbing installed, but unfortunately the faucet wasn’t. Apparently our cool, gourmet faucet was defective and we’re waiting on a new one. So, it seems we may not be able to use the kitchen for at least another week. But the countertops look great! Also Handy Joe installed the door pulls and most of the cabinet lighting. It looks really good and it’s coming together.

Our current dungeon (I mean basement) kitchen
Actually, our current "kitchen" hasn't been too bad. Other than it's freezing down there. But Joey did a great job of setting it all up and installing a working stove and fridge. So at least we're not forced to eat out all the time or settle for microwavable food.
The painters did come yesterday and primed the kitchen, so we should have a lovely shade of green to brighten up the room. It certainly makes the cabinet color pop. We also decided since the cabinets, tile, countertops and backsplash are more of a neutral color we needed some boldness. It's a bold new year, after all.

So, now we’re waiting for the dishwasher which is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. We’re hopeful the glass tile backsplash will arrive sometime this week and will be mounted (is that the right word?). Joe will be installing the pendant lighting and track lighting this weekend.
But we still need to:
• Pick out a ceiling fan
• Pick out window treatments for kitchen and bathroom
• Pick out and order a vessel sink for the bathroom
• Paint the butler pantry cabinets
• Install additional cabinet lighting and door pulls
• Oh, and install outlet covers
Those little details add up!
Recent proud moments
Just in the last week or so both Fiona and Sofia did some new things that made me very proud, although it was a little bittersweet.
Fiona slept through the night twice last week, although I didn’t. I woke up several times thinking I heard her, as well as having a hacking cough that can raise the dead (except Joe). One of the times I woke up, through the camera monitor, I saw Fiona sit up in her crib for a few moments before she laid back down. She did this a couple of times and after a few minutes fell back asleep without crying or fussing; without needing Mommy. It was great to know that she’s on her way to sleeping on her own and ultimately to independence and I was very proud of her at that moment, but I was also a little sad to know she’s reaching a new milestone. On the other hand I know it will still be several months before she really sleeps through the night on her own without needing us so I’ll savor those moments.
Last night, around 12:30 AM, after I got Fiona back to sleep (she’s been waking up again as I predicted) I checked in on Sofia and “caught” her in the act of finishing up using the potty. She’s been going to bed without diapers for about a month now and though she’s had a few accidents during the night, she’s been pretty good. And there she was, like a “big girl” using the bathroom in the middle of the night! As I walked into her room she pulled up her pants and jumped back into bed without a word and turned to her side and closed her eyes while I tucked her back in. I was so proud of her and the quick progress she’s made in potty-training.
Other Random Updates
Joe took Fiona to the doctor for her wellness check last week and she weighed 18 lbs, 11 ounces. She’s got four new teeth on top, with the last one breaking through in the last day, so I’m hopeful she’ll sleep through the night more often now.
The other day I got home and Sofia told me that “daddy tootted.” Very cute indeed!
And finally yesterday Sofia drew and pasted stickers on a piece of paper and at the end gave it to me and said “For you Mommy!” It’s the first time she purposely made and gave me something. So sweet!
