Multi-Family Beach House Vacation, Oak Harbor, OH
We thought it would be a fun idea to throw together three families, six kids under four and thousands of mayflies and see what happened.
"Beach house on the water"...let's just say photos can be deceiving
Umm..."beach" not so big
But it was nice to dip a toe into Lake Erie.
Who knew it was mayfly season? Not us. There were swarms of these ugly, but harmless bugs and thousands of crunchy carcasses on the ground and soggy ones in the water.
After a couple buzzed around Sofia's head she freaked out and didn't want to be outside. It was quite unfortunate timing because there was a nice park across the street and it made our brief trip to Kelley's Island unbearable.

Oh, did I mention we had our own nuclear reactor? (That wasn't on the "amenities" description of the house).
All in all the kids had a great time running around and playing, and the adults had fun running behind children, playing board games and mixing freshly pureed fruit with white wine. Although, we were pretty exhausted after that trip. The kids took marathon naps when we came home and even Joe indulged after dinner.

The annual Fairview Park Thursday Ice Cream Social started. It was packed and a big band provided ambiance.
The "splash" water park also debuted that week and it was a nice, hot day when the girls splashed around.
In the interim since my last post, we've attended a birthday party, watched Parade the Circle, ran a 5K, planted a veggie garden in our new raised bed, planted a rain garden and generally enjoyed the backyard.

This 5K was hard NOT to do since it went right by our house.
I placed second in my age division and it was the fastest 5K I've run so far. Fernanda also ran and did great!
Joe and the girls planted cantaloupe, grapes, tomatoes, basil, and jalapenos.
Hopefully the "after" photo will be lush and colorful.
