Memorial Day Weekend in Illinois

We took our first road trip in six months in our new car and it was pretty easy. We bought a portable DVD player with two screens that attach to the headrests so the girls enjoyed hours of Dora and Barney. They also colored and "read" books. Between that and endless snacks of fruit and goldfish crackers they tolerated the 5.5 hours pretty well. The ride back wasn't so pleasant given the thunderstorms all the way home, but they slept and watched more Barney.

Aunt Michelle and Uncle Brian were kind enough to host us and that gave the kids a lot more time to play and fight. It also gave mommies and daddies more time to drink, eat and hang out in the hot tub. Nana and Papa also came over to partake.

We also managed to squeeze in a 5K and 10K race in which I placed first in my age division (10K) and Michelle placed second in her age division (5K). The guys also ran and Joe did pretty well considering he doesn't run much. If he did he'd probably beat me! I also had a treat by meeting up with an old high school friend whom I hadn't seen in about 15 years. She was as sweet as ever. It was fun to catch up and to meet her husband.

We did spend some time with my parents and the girls enjoyed time with their cousins.









Stacy and Suresh came over to introduce their beautiful new baby Daya.







Although it was another whirlwind trip Sofia's already asking when we're going back. Hopefully soon!
