We hosted a Sunday Birthday Brunch to celebrate Fiona’s first birthday. Daddy made a great spread of pancakes, three types of muffins (one type with bacon of course), two types of egg casserole and sausages. I had the hard job of making the mimosas and fruit salad.
Fiona, always cheery, had a great time. Sofia played well with her friends, although occasional spats over toys provided good teachable moments! We also dyed eggs, but unfortunately didn’t take photos of that colorful chaos.

Sofia and Edie wait to help blow out the candle. Muffins in the background.

I was trying to get Fiona to blow out the candle. Sofia picked out the Dora cake.

Edie and Sofia pose for pics.

Fiona opens Nana Boyd’s gift and Sofia opens hers. Thanks Nana!
Granny also sent Fiona a pretty silver spoon and generous gift for her college fund. Abi Polanco gave Fiona a number of pretty summer outfits that she’ll model once the weather gets nicer!
I was home on Monday, Fiona’s actual birthday, so I took the girls to the Children’s Museum. Fiona had her first shopping spree.

The girls work together to get the shopping done.
And here they play house.

And finally Fiona relaxes a bit after a fun-filled weekend.

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate!
Sofia Update
On the Sofia front, she had her third birthday wellness visit and she now weighs 26 lbs! Not much heavier than Fiona :) She also had her first dentist visit and unfortunately she seems to have inherited Mommy's weak teeth. We have to return to have a couple of mini-fillings for a couple of molars. The dentist basically said she has weak enamel and can be prone to cavities. Luckily we don't really give her juice or candy, but we're now going to have to be vigilent with sticky foods and brushing more than once a day.
She's also taken to calling Mommy her "best friend". And one day, unprompted, she said, "I love you Mommy". So very sweet! A couple of other funny Sofia comments...one day after a nap she awoke to say the "man on the moon" was sitting next to her; and he stuck around the rest of the afternoon. And as proof of her biligualism she asked for lots of "cuentos" (stories) one afternoon.
